Apple AirPower wireless charging mat is all set to debut this year, and supply chain sources cited this. Apple recently unveiled their AirPower mat in September 2017, and they had plans of bringing it to the market last year itself. But the company has maintained silence regarding its plans on launching the unified wireless charging solution. A new report explains what analyst Ming-Chi Kuo had predicted in October in 2018. Recently, it was reported that manufacturer Luxshare Precision has started producing AirPower, but the exact date of launch hasn’t been announced as of now.
Based on some supply chain sources, DigiTimes reported that component orders for Apple’s AirPower have continued to pour in and it will soon be available in the later part of the year. It is being speculated that Taipei-based Lite-On Semiconductor has shipped their components, especially the glass passivated package (GPP) bridge rectifier, since a year.
Apple was originally supposed to bring the AirPower wireless charging mat to the market in the year 2018 itself, but it missed its schedules due to reasons speculated to be overheating and interference. No clarification was given regarding this matter. But the Digitimes’ report suggested that the device was still in a development phase in 2018, which explains the delay in the launch schedule.
In a separate report, 9to5Mac noted that Apple has maintained a reference to the AirPower mat as well as their missed 2018 launch to the Apple Store page, and it can be seen here- the refurbished Apple Watch Series 3 tech specs.
Just last week, Apple, in brief, mentioned that AirPower would support their latest Smart Battery Case models designed for the iPhone XS (priced at Rs 91,131), iPhone XS Max (priced at Rs 101,000), and the iPhone XR. Accessory manufacturer Luxshare Precision was recently seen starting the production of AirPower. Taiwanese electronics manufacturer Pegatron has also been reportedly involved in mass-production of the wireless charging mat since January 21.
In October 2018, analyst Kuo had predicted in an open letter to the Apple investors that the Cupertino giant will soon be seen launching their AirPower in the first quarter of the new year.
One of the reasons behind the high anticipation behind the AirPower mat is its ability to charge a compatible iPhone model as well as the Apple Watch and AirPods simultaneously. A few of the initial reports also suggested that the company has delayed the launch of their new device because of issues related to overheating and interference.
There have been way too many rumors around the AirPower launch, and Apple has resolved all the major issues regarding the wireless charging mat and is all set to bring it to the customers in the near future.
