Alejandro Roman bagged a big win after his recent triumph over Silma Macalou in Marrakesh. This win was a profitable one since Roman earned €103,184 a title on the final Sunday of the event. Before arriving in Marrakesh, Silma Macalou was declared a winner of The WPT Deepstacks event in Portugal, earning €91,655 top prize. His second position in Marrakesh brought him €72,604.
Macalou fought a 14-hours battle against Roman. There were nine contenders but after eight hours only three remained. Besides Roman and Macalou, Pedro Ingles participated in this race.
Despite outclassing Ingles early in the game, Macalou (who suddenly became a top favorite with Ingles out of the way) eventually got outsmarted by Roman. Few hours before that, Ingles busted Bruno Fitoussi, another great contender for the title.
Somewhere around 5.a.m local time, Macalou was down to 5.75 million, while Roman had more than 9 million. Macalou raised with seven-five offsuit and when he hit his seven on the river, he moved all-in and was called by Roman’s club flush.
Despite his failure to win this competition, Macalou played well, proving that next time he will definitely looking forward to getting even on Roman. On the other hand, Spaniard Alejandro Roman banked an impressive six-figure score and will definitely be someone to keep a watch on next time.
