Amazon is the world’s largest online retail dealer where you can get almost everything. The big news today from this online store is its entry into the healthcare industry. There are reports from CNBC about Amazon launching its Amazon Pharmacy. It is a new service where it is offering its customers home delivery for prescription medication.

Customers can access the store by signing up to create a secure pharmacy profile with an option where they can add their health insurance personal details. The profile also has a place where a customer can fill in outstanding medical information such as allergies as well as any regular prescription they may have.

What is in for Amazon Prime Customers?

The launch of Amazon Pharmacy comes with enticing deals for its category of customers. According to reports, Amazon’s prime members will be getting a number of perks over ordinary regular customers.

For instance, the store will be offering its prime customers free two-day delivery orders as well as discounts on all the drugs they purchase. It means that prime members will be in a position to save up to 80% of generic and 40% off brand name drugs when they pay without using their insurance.

Another thing the Amazon prime members are set to benefit from is that any drug they purchase in person from more than 50,000 pharmacies in the United States, they will be able to save on medication. Examples of these pharmacies include Rite Aid, Walmart, CVS, and Walgreens.

What the Amazon Pharmacy Will Be Offering?

A report by CNBC says the Amazon store is set to offer a wide range of generic as well as brand-name drugs, including those commonly prescribed drugs such as triamcinolone, insulin, triamcinolone steroid creams, sumatriptan for migraines, and metformin used to control blood sugar levels. However, the Amazon Pharmacy will not be selling any Schedule II medications.

They include common opioids such as Oxycontin.

Methods of Payment

Reports say that Amazon will be accepting almost all insurance plans, meaning that customers will be able to purchase drugs using their medical insurance. The other thing is that customers will have the opportunity to speak to pharmacists for advice on the use of drugs.

According to CNBC reports, Amazon Pharmacy will be present in 45 states. States not yet covered include Illinois, Hawaii, Minnesota, Hawaii, and Louisiana. However, there are plans by Amazon to expand to those areas in the near future.
