Barcelona and El Classico is practically inseparable. One of the most anticipated matches in the world always attract football fans and the public around the world. Unfortunately, the world pandemic has prevented the fans to return to the venues yet. No wonder that as one way to stabilise their finance, Blaugarana is set to release El Classico special edition kit immediately. It has been reported that that is one single game kit will be worn in the next El Classico encounter in La Liga on 11th of April and promoted by the former club captain, Carles Puyol. The shirt is going to be ready on sale at the end of the month. There has been no official picture of it yet but according to the report from Diaro AS, the shirt will be unique as it will be combining two designs associated with Barcelona, the Blaugrana’s red and blue and the Catalan flag, ‘the Senyera’, which consists of yellow and red stripes.
It is not the first time the Catalan’s side releases commemorative shirt. They have done several times in the recent seasons. Such special edition kit is normally released to mark the historical club anniversaries or the Catalan spirit as well as solidity. One of the other examples of special edition kit was the 1998/99 Nike shirt edition, which was reproduced and released in April 2019.
That particular kit hopefully can give a new spirit for the fans and Ronald Koeman’s men themselves for avenging the humiliating 1-3 loss in Camp Nou last October. Their next clash could be a crucial one in a title race providing Lionel Messi and Co could keep up their impressive form later.
The first El Classico was held in 1902 with a 3-1 victory for Barcelona. Yet, in the entire competitive matches, Real Madrid has better head-to-head result to their archrival with 97 wins and 96 defeats.
