Belgium’s Financial Regulator Added 9 Domains To List Of Suspected Crypto Scams

Last Tuesday, the Financial Services and Markets Authority (FSMA) of Belgium added 9 domains to the list of websites suspected of cryptocurrency scam, bringing the list to a total of 131 domains.

The Belgian financial sector regulator added to the list of trading platforms with signs of fraud the following domains: bitcoinmarketscap.com, bitcointraderspro.com, coinsmex.com, crypto-sfs.com, etc-markets.co, fisherih.com, ltc-markets.com, stsroyal.com and tdscapitalgroup.com

According to the agency, this update of the list comes after reports of Belgian consumers who were victims of scams. Also, it said that such frauds still use the same formula: scammers promising riches in easy steps, without requiring prior knowledge in cryptocurrencies, but in the end consumers are not able to recover their money.

However, the domains have not been closed or blacklisted by the FSMA, since this agency does not have those capabilities. On the other hand, another European authorities do have the power to close sites accused of fraud, as happened last spring with coin mixing service bestmixer.io.
