The casino is to operate under the Bern’s online gambling license. This was secured last year November. This license allows the operator to run online casinos apart from the land-based facilities. Casino Interlaken, another property of Casino Austria International also started iGaming offering. It is offering under the StarVegas.ch domain from February this year.
The land-based facility of Grand Casino Bern started in April 2002. However, due to novel coronavirus, the facility is working on limited hours.
Swiss Gambling Regulator, Eidgenössischen Spielbankenkommission, said that the online gaming licensees generated £20.1m in revenue during 2019.
The legal iGaming is still pretty new in Switzerland, it started in July, last year. The revenue was for 6 months in 2019.
Switzerland has 21 land-based casinos. The revenue generated from the casinos was CHF 742.5mn in 2019. The category A licenses, in the urban area contributed CHF 449mn.
Casino Austria International posted a 30% decline in revenue for the first half of 2020 to €52.8m.
