Crystal Palace have finalised the signing of midfielder James McCarthy from Everton in a £3m deal.
McCarthy, 28, had one year left to the expiry of his contract at Everton and he’s now left after six seasons in Merseyside.
He made 133 appearances in all competitions for Everton and scored six goals. He featured just once last season due to a long-term injury that kept him out for months.
Palace boss Roy Hodgson said:
“I’m really pleased we’ve been able to bring James to the club because he’s a player I’ve admired for a very long time.”
New signing McCarthy added:
“I can’t wait to get started. It feels like a very nice club, a nice family club. I’m delighted to be here; it’s a fresh start that I thought I needed.”
