FiveThirtyEight released statistical analysis data on Sunday predicting Rockets as the best team in the 2019-20 NBA regular season.
The data projects that Houston’s 2019-20 record at 58-24, tying with 76ers for league-best. Houston, however, is highly rated when it comes to the full strength, given that it plays in the tougher Western Conference.
The predictions are also taking into consideration the recent moves such as Russell Westbrook trade. The predictions are in line with the current forecast that Rockets are the best Western team, according to RealGM.
Other highly rated teams include Bucks, Lakers, Warriors, Nuggets, and Jazz in the regular season.
FiveThirtyEight have a separate playoff projection whereby Rockets has 33 percent of making to the NBA Finals and a 22 percent of winning the Finals. The projection is the best for the Western Conference teams.
Los Angeles Lakers are slightly behind Rockets in the projection. They have a 27 percent rating of making to the Finals and 18 percent of winning the Finals.
The FiveThirtyEight’s also predicts that James Harden will be a 2019-20 MVP candidate.
The projections are obtained from 50,000 simulations which are combined by updated charts which are used to track injuries, trade and other non-trade moves. They generate estimations based on those variables.
