Delaware’s Sports Betting had a Difficult Month in August

Delaware’s sports betting has endured another difficult month based on August reports, with wagers decreasing by 42 percent, year-on-year.
Dover Downs, Harrington Raceway and Park managed a mere $4.4 million in lottery wagers, which a considerable drop from $7.7 million collected in last month, this is according to information published by Delaware Lottery.

Despite the drop, figures for the month ending August 25th rose by $0.5 million up from July $4 million. This was the worst month in terms of performance since gambling was legalized in 2018.

Returns, compared to handle, remained promising, which saw the three big Sportsbooks retain 11.4 percent ($505006) of the total wagered. However, this figure represents a 28.5 percent drop when paralleled to last year’s August.
