Desmond Terrell green, an ultimate fighter was on Wednesday being held in the Broward County Jail, on bonds totaling $194,000, records showed.
The 29-year-old of Pembroke is facing 20 charges, DUI manslaughter following a five-vehicle crash that killed two women.
Emma Suarez Hernandez, 76, and Emelina Morfa, 67, passed on in the collisions that occurred on northbound Interstate 75 just south of the Sheridan Street overpass in Pembroke Pines about 6.a.m August.18.
Among the passengers who were hurt were Teresa Jaramillo, 58, and Mily Vita-Vega, 65, of Miami who was driving the Toyota and the two were taken to Memorial Hospital for surgery as per Florida Patrol crash report.
As per the report, Green lost control of the 2011 Dodge Durango he was driving and veered into the path of a tractor-trailer driven by Juan Gomez, 51, of Coral Springs.
The report said that Green and Alvarez sustained minor injuries while the rest were unhurt. From the witnesses report, Green was seen throwing an object over a concrete highway barrier wall. The object recovered was a metal grinder that had marijuana residue inside.
A plastic bag of white powder that tested positive for cocaine was also recovered by the investigators. Also, they found out that Green showed signs of impairment and the toxicology tests confirmed the presence of drugs and Green was even driving on a second suspended license and was not wearing a seat belt.
The ultimate fighter, “The Predator” has a record of 23 wins, eight losses, and no draws. He has had three fights since the crash.
