Francaise des Jeux, the National Lottery Operator of France has warned that there could be a financial crisis due to the global COVID 19 outbreak.

FDJ has argued that the government has asked people to stay indoors. The request has been made to contain the deadly virus which has already killed 1100 people in France alone. The FDJ said that this would have a negative impact on its lottery business. Sports betting is also being impacted as major sporting events have been canceled.

FDJ also forecasts a loss of about Euro 120mn in the revenue alone. In the EBITDA core earnings, the loss could amount to Euro 50mn in the Sports Betting division. However, it was been told that 80% of the sales network is allowed to be opened amid the corona virus lockdown ordered by the French Authorities.
