The United Kingdom Gambling Commission reported they are satisfied with how BetBright handled their voiding of bets after being sold to 888.
888 purchased the technology assets from the failing betting company for £15 million, but both parties were caught in a scandal when BetBright announced they would be nulling many bets.
However, one gambler is planning to sue BetBright’s former operator Dedsert Limited for any losses he might incur due to the bet being voided. He wants the gambling regulator to force BetBright to use the £15 million from their sale to cover any future bets which they already accepted.
“What a cop-out,” he said to The Guardian, “if they had wanted to, BetBright could have covered any liabilities from the £15m sale price. The commission, if they want to regain any credibility, need to drop this ridiculous stance.”
But the Gambling Commission is satisfied with how BetBright has acted following their investigation into the Irish company.
888 announced they will be honoring bets place for the ongoing Cheltenham Festival, an area of concern for many gamblers.
On Twitter, 888 released a statement that read,
“all Cheltenham ante-post bets placed by former Dedsert (BetBright) customers will be kept alive by 888sport. Punters are invited to contact us with any winning bets, and we will honor them on original terms.”
