It’s attack time for New Jersey gambling regulators. A fine of $10,000 has been slapped on PokerStars for its role in illegal college basketball betting. This is a clear violation of local law.
PokerStars apparently accepted over two hundred wagers, totaling $2,700, on a game between Eastern Michigan University and Rutgers. For shame!
Plus, the company accepted one single bet (for an unknown amount) for a Monmouth University and U of Penn game.
It is clear that lawmakers in the Garden State are on the lookout for trouble and are setting stiff fines up to $100,000 for anyone engaging in prohibited bets in regard to New Jersey college teams.
The law is very specific and confined, so pay attention if you live in this state.
