Giannis Antetokounmpo To Lead His Native Greece Team In FIBA World Cup

Giannis Antetokounmpo is the latest star in the NBA. He earned the 2018-19 NBA MVP. He recently made a terrific statement while speaking to reporters ahead of FIBA World Cup. He said that he could exchange his MVP title for a gold medal in China.

The 2019 FIBA Basketball is scheduled to begin on 31st August and ends on 15th September. Giannis will play for his native Greek national team. The 24-year-old NBA star is a national icon in Greece, thus winning the title will be of great interest to him.

Giannis said that there is something special playing for the national team.

“I always feel something special when playing for the national team,” he explained. “When you are starting the tournament and listening to the national anthem, the emotions can’t be described. After the first basket, the first plays, it is an amazing experience, and every time I feel as proud as the first time. The feeling of winning with the national team is incredible, and I have said before that I will always be part of the team, as long as I am healthy like this summer.”

He will be playing alongside his two brothers in the World Cup. He added that it’s an incredible feeling to play alongside his brothers.
If Giannis succeed to lead Greece to win gold, that would be his greatest achievement.
