As reported Google has closed down a data gathering system that was important to create the search project code-named as the “Dragonfly.” The platform is facing huge criticism over its “censored” Search engine for the Chinese market. As per a report in the Intercept on Tuesday, the move comes after hundreds of Google employees raised internal criticisms that the project had been kept privet from them.
Presently all the Google employees are working on the Dragonfly project. In this project, the platform is using the Beijing-based websites. This idea would help them to develop blacklist for the censored search engine. Google brought the website www.265.com in the year 2008 from a billionaire Chinese businessman. It’s a Chinese-language web directory service. This website helps the Chinese guests to get all the news updates and information regarding financial market, advertisements regarding cheap flight as well as hotels and horoscopes.
In the month of August, the Intercept reported that Google has used this 265.com as a honeypot for market research and storing the information regarding the Chinese users. All the members of Google’s privacy group were kept away from the use of 265.com, but this group which is working on the “Dragonfly” is no longer gathering search queries from mainland China.
Significantly, numerous teams of engineers have now been moved off of Dragonfly totally and told to move their devotion away from China and in its place work on projects connected to India, Indonesia, Russia, the Middle East, and Brazil. Dragonfly in China would launch a hazardous model at an unstable political moment, one that would make it tougher for Google to deny other countries similar franchises.
Google had also launched earlier a search engine in China in the year 2006 but dragged the plug in the year 2010, quoting Chinese government labors to limit free speech and block websites.
