In 2019 free agency, there were several stars in the free agency who qualified for good deals. However, some players got lucrative deals, and yet they had no superstar status. Let’s look at the worst perceived contract in 2019 free agency.
Ricky Rubio $51 Million Deal, Phoenix
Rubio $17 million pay per season seems incompressible. Although the point guard is a good passer and a solid defender, Rubio can’t make it to be a shooter. Rubio market prospect was also not good for him.
Harrison Barnes $85 Million Deal, Kings
According to FiveThirtyEight’s CARMELO market values, Barnes deal with Sacramento was the worst.
Terry Rozier $58 million Deal. Hornets
Hornet signed Terry Rozier after Kemba Walker entered into the free agency. They failed to offer him a maximum contract. Kemba later signed with Boston. Terry was signed under a three year friendly deal with the Pacers. He will be paid $20 million per season. This is an enormous amount given that he has shot less than 40 percent from the field in each of the four seasons of his career.
Trevor Ariza $25 Million Deal, Kings
He is fifth in the Five-Thirty-Eight list. Sacramento is giving out more than $12 million to 34 years old forward. However, the contract is only guaranteed for two years.
DeAndre Jordan $40 Million Deal, Nets
DeAndre deal of $10 million per season doesn’t make sense. Given that the 30-year-old player isn’t giving the level of impact he did during his prime years. While in Clippers and Knicks, he didn’t move the defense.
