Hokkaido Government Examines The Public Opinion On IR Development

The Hokkaido Prefectural Government has announced a series of public meetings that will take place in five different cities between October 9th and October 25th. The main topic of this meeting will be the issue of IR development as well as opinion about it.

Governor Naomichi Suzuki will be present and examining the feedback from the public. This will help the governor decide should the prefecture go forward with the IR bid.

Tomakomai Mayor Hirofumi Iwakura is openly supporting the bid and he has been lobbying actively in its favor for quite some time.

He stated:

“The question of what legacy we will leave behind to the next generation in Hokkaido has become a challenging theme.”
