Celtic signed 18-year-old Jeremie Frimpong from Manchester City this summer. The youngster worked his way up Lennon’s plans that saw him play against Patrick Thistle.
Despite making eight changes to the team, Celtic won 5-0 over Patrick Thistle. Players Olivier Ntacham (scored twice), Scott Sinclair, Tom Rogic and Vakoun Issouf Bayo gave Celtic its 29th domestic cup win.
Without a single goal, young Frimpong still became the man of the match with the crowd cheering him on. Coach Lennon even named him the ‘crowd-pleaser’ which he earned for his speed, strength and overall good game. According to the coach, the full-back impressed during training and played excellently on the pitch.
For Jeremie, this was a dream come true as it was his first professional game and he had proved himself. He declared his love to the fans that had also shown their love for him while on the pitch. In short, the fans love him and he loves them back, their love is mutual so to speak.
The Dutch defender also thanked his coach for believing in him enough that he gave him the chance to play on Wednesday. He also shared that he aspired to become the best right-back and he would prove it.
To do so, he better learns a thing or two from good full-backs like Real Madrid’s Dani Carvajal, Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich and Juventus’ Joao Cancelo. Well, with positive vibes from his coach, the youngster is surely on the right track. Good luck to him in the coming games!
