Jessica Andrade, UFC strawweight champ and her spouse were allegedly robbed on Thursday Morning at gunpoint in their native home in Brazil according to MMA Fighting’s Guilherme Cruz. Multiple assailants robbed the couple after being stopped in their car, Honda HRV, and their smartphones were also not spared.
According to MMA Fighting report, the fighter’s coach, Gilliard Parana, the couple was not hurt, and they are fine. The PRVT team became world champion on May 11 after knocking out Rose Namajunas in Rio de Janeiro at UFC237.
Andrade’s wife, Fernanda Gomes Andrade, asked for assistance in finding their stolen car on Facebook, Honda Hrv Grey lead, plate pya-8124-Belo Horizonte.
Andrade’s manager, Tiaga Okamura spoke with MMA Junkie and commented on the alleged incident. Okamura said that the robbers stole their car, smartphones, and documents. They, therefore, spent the day doing paperwork and canceling the credit card. They also had to sort out Jessica’s passport as the couple will be traveling to the U.S. in a couple of weeks. There was a report given to the police, and people are also assisting in looking for the car.
It is sad that female MMA fighters have to go through such evils. Andrade’s case is not the first one. Last month amateur fighter Joyce Vieira reportedly beat up a man who was allegedly watching her and masturbating while she posed for an outdoor photo shoot and in January this year Polyana Viana fought out an attempted robbery in Rio de Janeiro.
