The Rockets has missed their target-Jimmy Butler who has chosen Miami. The Houston now has less option left on the table and is going for two former Warriors to fill their roster according to Jonathan Feigen of The Houston Chronicle.
Houston is looking forward to bolster its wing and the middle. Andre Iguodala and JaVale McGee are at the center of the attention. However, if the suspension is lifted by Saturday, Iguodala will be headed to Memphis as part of a cost-cutting move which enabled D’Angelo Russell with an approach that is cost cutting.
Rockets seem keen to acquire Iguodala, the only easy way to do so is sending their next year first round pick to Grizzlies. However, the risk of losing him is high, as another team maybe targeting him.
Houston started pursuing Iguodala right from 2017 when he was a free agent. They were ready to sign him, but the Golden States lured him by increasing the offer.
The Rockets has met with McGee. The team wants him because of his size. They hope that he will be a pick and roll partner for James Harden and Chris Paul.
Rockets can acquire McGee; difficulty may come if he requests more than a minimum veteran deal. This may leave them with less financial capability to acquire any other player with a large salary limit.
