Josh Adkins of Florida Stays with the WPT BestBet Bounty Scramble for $ 331,480

A new poker star is emerging in Florida. This is the new player Josh Adkins who won the WPT BestBet Bounty Scramble on Tuesday night for $ 331,480 played in Jacksonville. Although the state has seen a series of formidable poker players parade and Jason Mercier is still a must-see landmark this new promise of the game has already added its name to the Champions Cup.

Part of the Adkins prize, it is a ticket worth $ 15,000 for the WPT Champions Tournament at the end of the season. This is the first Adkins WPT Main Event, who has seen his earnings from previous tournaments multiply more than ten times, by earning the highest score of $ 1.6 million from the prize pool.

With Adkins was Marvin Rettenmaier, former WPT Main Event champion on several consecutive occasions, also former champion Sam Panzica and professional players Dan Shak, Jake Schwartz and Jamie Kerstetter who despite their game failed to jeopardize the triumph of the Floridian player.

Nine players were missing and Joe McKeehenel the former WSOP Main Event winner was still at the table, but his cards (pocket kings) failed to overcome the ace-queen and broke in ninth place.

Jeff Cunningham started first in the official final table of six players, as is traditional in the WPT. He had a short stack as well as Jonathan Cronin, who left after seeing his pocket kings surpassed by King Ace.

There were four players left at the table and Josh Kay took over. He was still leading in chips at the time Jason Lee was eliminated in fourth place, more than half of his chips were at stake. Soon everything changed.

Player Tan Nguyen went all-in and was able to survive twice against Kay. First when crossing a Broadway ladder and then winning a flip to get into the pole position of the title. Kay broke into third place with an inopportune but brave deception that crashed into Josh Adkins’ pocket aces. The result was Kay’s defeat.

The final battle was fought between Adkins and Nguyen. After a few hands, Adkins finally won the victory in the event by overcoming the ace-king of Nguyen, placing the ace-queen of hearts after a queen hit the flop and Nguyen could not take the lead again.

Results of the final table:

  • 1. Josh Adkins $ 331,480 *
  • 2. Tan Nguyen $ 210,988
  • 3. Josh Kay $ 155,340
  • 4. Jason Lee $ 115,340
  • 5. Jonathan Cronin $ 87,170
  • 6. Jeff Cunningham $ 66,457
