Andy Beshear, Democrat and Kentucky’s gubernatorial candidate, has shared expansion plans that will see new changes in the gambling sector in Kentucky. In the event he wins his candidature, he plans to expand KY’s gambling market through legalizing casinos, online gaming, and sports betting.

Under this proposed policy change, tax revenues from the proposed expansion will help fund the state’s pensions system for servants who work for the government. This is widely seen as a move that will benefit KY’s police officers, teachers, social workers, and firefighters.
Andy Beshear also added that the additional revenue from gambling tax would also help fund other sectors of the economy like health clinics without the need to raise taxes for locals.

Presently, dog race, pari-mutuel horse and charitable activities like state lottery are the only legal gambling activities allowed in KY.
