The government of the Indian state of Kerala is evaluating the possibility of issuing licenses for coastal casinos, although it has not yet made a final decision in this regard.
The state of Kerala located in southern India, is currently discussing regulations for the operation of its existing casinos, including the strict implementation of a ban directed at local players entering casinos.
However, Kerala’s tax minister, TP Ramakrishnan, referred to this policy that could generate changes in the future saying that
“The government has not yet decided to give permission to casinos in coastal areas.”
Last year, the Kerala High Court issued a controversial opinion that playing rummy by betting is considered a game of chance. Therefore, this type of games is a crime according to the 1960 Kerala Gaming Act.
With this failure, the online Rummy as well as the skill games in India were hit hard.
