LG Electronics is planning to begin to sell the big-screen TVs in the upcoming year. Therefore, you can roll up and put it away like a poster. The envisioned 65-inch TVs will automatically withdraw at the touch of a button just like a garage door. They will sport organic light-emitting diode or OLED screens. This will produce clear images and fold more effortlessly than traditional LCD or liquid-crystal display panels.
LG is counting on so-called “rollable” and OLED televisions to recover all the buyer electronics business that’s dealing with price fall and hardening Chinese market. The South Korean multinational company is now peeling all the workers to streamline and trying to change around future technologies, e.g., flexible displays. A sample of the television displayed at LG’s research Centre in Seoul can be rolled up and be packed into a box when not in use. The company displayed the rollable screen technology earlier in this year, but 2019 will be marked as the first commercial release.
This very platform is also planning to create its mark on its fifth-generation or 5G wireless technologies. This is expected to reform the mobile internet and on the other hand, control the plethora of devices from home appliances to cars. Therefore LG is planning to reveal if first only 5G smartphone in the coming year. The US telecommunication giant known as Sprint Corp has announced this August about its work along with LG. This will bring the device that will run on the 5G to the US in its first half. It is planning for its own marketplace, i.e., Korean Market which remain unclear.
Not like Samsung, LG has no strategies to introduce the phone feature “foldable” screens in the upcoming year. The company is suspicions about the profitability of such a device given the hesitation about the demand and the cost of producing such a large screen for a mobile device.
