The big day is September 1. Indiana regulars are launching sports betting at last, following upon recent legalization.
They will no doubt appreciate the betting taxes at 9.5% (of adjust gross revenues). As with other states, a portion will be used for problem gambling treatment.
It takes a hefty fee of $100k fee for operators to get into the action, with a US$50 renewal charge. Wagerers must be 21 either at casinos or participating on mobile. Of note, players must register first at a local venue.
According to Indiana’s governor, Eric Holcomb, the legalization of sports betting will spur the economy and provide employment for over 11,000 Hoosiers.
“It will bring in new revenue and create hundreds of new jobs — both permanent and in construction.”
