Everton’s 2-0 win over Sheffield has given the team passage to the fourth round of the Carabao Cup. A performance which has pleased the Blues Boss, Marco Silva who couldn’t help himself but praise his team for their good game.

Silva explained how he had urged his men to put their all in this game following their 2-0 defeat against Sheffield United. In his words, he asked his players to play as they had played against Lincoln and fortunately they were able to achieve that.

Before the game, the Portuguese manager had to do some changes to his team. The five changes he made were; replacing Moise Kean with Calvert-Lewin, benching Gylfi Sigurdson in favor of Iwobi, placing Morgan Schneiderlin in Tom Davies’ position, giving Djibril Sidibe a chance to play and lastly, swapping Michael Keane with Mason Holgate.

Following the win, we can agree that the coach did his homework. Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored the two goals in the first ten minutes of the game. If luck were on his side, it could have been a hat-trick but still, he saw his team in the next round.

Silva is confident about his players and feels that they all play an important role for Everton. When questioned about Richarlison’s substitution, he easily explained that there was nothing to it apart from the fact that the player had played the whole game last Saturday.

Substituting him for Theo Walcott was simply providing a chance to fresh players who had worked hard for it. Now let’s watch out for Everton in round 4.
