Mario Kart Tour, which was announced last year, has become Nintendo’s biggest gaming launch by downloads. The game was officially released by Nintendo on 26th of this month, and within a 24-hour period, the game has cleanly beat out every of its fellow mobile game releases alongside it. Mario Kart Tour is released to iOS and Android-running mobile phones.
According to an inside resource on the launch, Nintendo was betting highly on the success of its latest mobile version of the classic Mario Kart game series. It seems that the analytical data gathered from various mobile gaming research portals are confirming on the success of Nintendo’s faith in its most popular gaming brand.
While being a quite popular game, Mario Kart was first released in 1992 and was based on the earlier success of original Mario game: Super Mario Bros 1985. According to one Sensor Tower, a mobile data research firm, Mario Kart Tour was downloaded a whopping 20 million times on day 1 of its release.
They also stated that it was third-best of all times in terms of revenue by any Nintendo release on mobile platform ever. Another mobile data searching firm Apptopia notes that Mario Kart Tour has cleanly beaten other major game releases like Clash Royale, Fortnight, and even Pokémon GO (previous record-holder) by huge margin of over 4 million more downloads.
Mario, as it has been 39 years ago, is by far one of the most successful games that were released since the electronic gaming began in the early 1970s. Nintendo, along with other Japanese gaming giants, has played a critical role in the popularization and adoption of gaming industry to a global audience. But apart from all the success due to brilliant storyline and highly ethical context being portrayed with these games, Mario is only one of the few memorable gaming titles that were equally well-liked by the kids and adults.
