May is now well and truly underway, and players at online casinos across the net are set to be spoilt for choice for new slots to play. A host of new games made their debuts at internet betting sites this week, and you can have the pick of the litter right here. So, with that in mind; if you’re looking for something to play, what’s new this week?
What Went Live This Week?
NextGen Gaming finally jumped on the MegaWays bandwagon and unveiled the first of their slots in the series this week. After acquiring the license to use Big Time Gaming’s MegaWays engine, what else but their flagship slot should debut with the new payline format in place?
Medusa became the first MegaWays slot to launch from NextGen Gaming and is now available to play. NextGen has kept most of the original features in the game intact, although now Medusa: MegaWays can now be played across 6 reels, with as many as 117,649 paylines to win on.
Wheel of Fortune: Mega Jackpot – On Air
Also debuting this week at online casinos is IGT’s latest effort. The casino software providers already have an impressive array of games in both their Wheel of Fortune and MegaJackpots series. Now, they have combined the two, to create Mega Jackpots: Wheel of Fortune – On Air. This new game (like most other Wheel of Fortune games) allows players to spin the infamous wheel to win multipliers, wild reels, re-spins and much more besides. It is a costly new game to play at 40p per spin but does at least offer progressive prizes.
Red Tiger Gaming has also been in on the action, with their Vicky Ventura slot receiving its debut. Think Indiana Jones but with a gun-toting lady in charge and you’ll have the theme of this game pegged. With prizes worth up to 10,000x a stake, stacked icons, expanding reels and an RTP of 96.16%, there’s plenty of action and adventure to be had in this new slot.
Dead or Alive 2
Ten years after it made its debut, NetEnt has finally served up a sequel to the Dead or Alive slot. The Wild West-themed Dead or Alive II is now available all good casinos offering NetEnt slots, and it trumps its predecessor by a long way. The free spin round from the original slot is present in this sequel but as just one of three free spin features. The same 9-line format can be found, with dirt cheap bets, and players can prosper from 5 different wild symbols being present on the reels, as well as an epic High Noon Saloon free game feature.
Dead or Alive II won’t have everything their own way. No Limit City are set to challenge NetENt’s new release with a Wild West-themed slot of their own. Armed with three free spin bonus rounds (just like Dead or Alive II), 108 ways to win, and outlaws wilds, Tombstone may appear to be a carbon copy of that more famous release. However, if you don’t happen to be playing at a NetEnt site, you may just be able to get your hands on this game, which is available at all casinos offering Microgaming’s Quickfire platform slots.
The Surprise Package
Arguably the most surprising release of the week is Just for the Win’s Rockabilly Wolves slot. Fifties music and Looney Tunes-style characters all add flavour to this release, which features 3 wolf brothers as stacked wilds, and a thoroughly enjoyable free spin bonus which offers sticky wilds, and increasing multipliers. JFTW have managed to come up with something quirky, exciting and inexpensive to play, and the game should receive a wide release at many top sites throughout the week.
Of course, there are plenty of further slots in the pipeline. Some of these may debut in a matter of days, and others a bit later in spring and into summer. So, what lies ahead for players at casino sites, then?
Beavis and Butt-Head
Blueprint Gaming are all set to debut a Beavis and Butt-Head slot later this month, and that will obviously draw a significant crowd with its adolescent humour and Cornholio Wilds, Colossal Couch Fishing, Butt Flambe and So Nacho bonus rounds. Microgaming are also looking at releasing a sequel to their ice hockey-themed slot, Break Away, although the early indications are that this game is set to be more of a deluxe edition rather than a direct sequel. That isn’t set to debut until early June, though.
Also on the horizon is an African animal-themed slot from Playtech this month, known as Savage Jungle. Blueprint will continue their quest for producing MegaWays slots as Return of Kong: MegaWays comes to town, and Microgaming/Electric Elephant will take us back to the age of space invaders with Space Spins. Details on all of these new games are set to be released in due course.
With a wealth of new titles either available or pending launch, players certainly won’t be short of something to play this spring.
