NFL MVP Patrick Mahomes Still Believes That He Will Continue Growing

Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes is still trying out his best. One year ago, Mahome seized the NFL world by throwing 50 touchdowns passes which made him earn the MVP honor.

In 2018 season, he led the best offense in league with 35.5 points a game and 6,810 yards. In the postseason, they were making it to the Super Bowl until they lost to New England.

Mohome spent his offseason attending commercial photo-shoots for an endorsement deal, late-night talk shows, award ceremonies, and baseball games. It has been fan during his travel, but now he is back to work.

Mahome is getting in the second year as a starting quarterback. The question that remains unanswered to many is whether he will maintain the level he plays or if he will get better.

While the defensive coordinators have spent the offseason looking for a weakness to exploit, the current MVP believes he can still improve his game. While they may spend a lot of time searching for the error, it may be challenging to get one since Mahome is great at self-critiquing. Even as a first-year starter, he would be able to pinpoint the mistakes he had done in either win or loss. So he does a great deal of self-correcting.

While Mahomes might not be perfect, he still believes he can become more efficient and effective.

“I think the biggest thing I’m trying to work on is just knowing when to take that big shot, when to take that chance, and when to take that easy play,” Mahomes said. “That’s something I’ll be working on my whole career. I have that aggressive nature, but at the same time, if the short release is there for the first down, take that and move the chains.”

Mahomes also seeks to improve his footwork and movement in the pocket and the way he runs one way and zipping ball across his body. He wants to improve his consistency on those standard plays. Also, when a five-step drop is called, he must be more precise. He must also improve at taking time to set his feet to deliver more accurate passes.

Coach Andy Reid said that he wants Mahome to maintain his self. And then continue to work to get better. And with that, good things will happen.

Mahaome wishes to continue growing, all he needs to do is master a position that will make him look much better.
