The Prince of Darkness Returns
Net Entertainment has become something of an industry leader for rock-themed slots. Over the last few years, the Scandinavian casino software developer has already put together an impressive series with slots themed on Guns ‘N’ Roses, Jimi Hendrix and Motörhead. Now, they are set to add a fourth game to that series. Enter the Prince of Darkness…
Any rock and metal-themed slot series had to have Ozzy Osbourne worked into it somewhere along the way. The Ozzy Osbourne slot is the latest NetEnt game in the genre and presents players with an inviting playlist of the best of Oz, and an exciting set of new features to boot. Ozzy Osbourne: The Video Slot is now live at all top NetEnt casinos.
NetEnt Finally Add to Their Rock ‘n’ Roll Series
Net Entertainment’s latest effort is a fully licensed slot. The game developers have worked with Ozzy Osbourne himself to ensure that the slot bearing his name features realistic imagery, bats galore and cracking audio. While the theme and design of the slot’s interface are very reminiscent of those launched earlier (and mentioned above), NetEnt hopes that a staggering array of original features will impress and entice players looking for something new.
Speaking at the game’s launch, NetEnt’s Director of Games, Bryan Upton, commented that
“Ozzy is the archetypal rock star, whose name transcends the music industry. He might be the Prince of Darkness, but he’s had an incredibly colourful career, and we are ecstatic to have worked with him for his latest gig.”
The chairman of Ozzy’s merchandise and brand management company, Barry Drinkwater, remarked,
“We’ve been looking forward to Ozzy Osbourne Video SlotsTM going live ever since we signed the partnership with NetEnt and we’re delighted with the result.”
Everybody seems to be happy with the game, but what will casino players think? Let’s dive into the slot and see if we can get a bit of an insight.
Inside the Ozzy Osbourne Slot
Few rock stars come bigger than Ozzy Osbourne, so the addition of the megastar to NetEnt’s rock ‘n’ roll and music-themed slot series is an inspired choice. The game screen is naturally dark and spooky, befitting the Prince of Darkness’ style. That screen sees 5 reels contain 20 paylines, with bets costing as little as 0.20 a spin and no more than 100.00 a game. However, that’s not entirely accurate. Ozzy Osbourne also contains a Bonus Bet Mode, and that can see new caps of 0.40 and 200.00 a spin comes into play.
Unsurprisingly, using the Bonus Bet Mode will see players potentially win a larger number of free spins, and greater multipliers. Whether that is worth doubling your bet or not is down to you.
Re-Spins and Free Spins Galore
Scatter symbols are important in the new release, as these can unlock bonus features. They can spring up on the first, third and fifth reels. Just two of them will trigger a re-spin round in the slot. While that re-spin feature is in play, a separate Symbol Charge Up mode also kicks into gear.
With the Symbol Charge Up mode, a symbol spinner will determine which icon will play a part in the bonus, while a feature spinner will determine which special mode will apply to that symbol. Players could, for instance, end up with free spins (after re-spins) if the bat is chosen. The Symbol Charge Up feature could instead see instant cash prizes paid out, wild symbols, symbol multipliers worth 2x or 3x (5x to 7x with the Bonus Bet Mode active), or a symbol upgrade bonus.
If you did land the bat and trigger free spins, you will start with either 4 free spins (or 5 if you play with Bonus Bet) following the conclusion of the re-spin round. You could also trigger the free spins round directly by landing all three scatters on the reels of the base game. During the round, the symbol and feature spinners will once more dole out goodies to players. Players can use scatters to win up to 7 free spins in all during this round.
Ozzy Osbourne Joins NetEnt’s Musical Slot Hall of Fame
Ozzy Osbourne can now take pride of place alongside NetEnt’s Jimi Hendrix, Motörhead, and Guns ‘N’ Roses slots in the software developer’s rock ‘n’ roll-themed genre. The latest addition has been a long time coming, but few players will argue that the wait wasn’t worth it.
Players will appreciate the array of bonuses which can be triggered in the game, even if the method of triggering them is a little bizarre. The Bonus Bet Mode is something we don’t often see in Net Entertainment slots, so this too can be seen as the provider bringing something new to the table.
