Football pundit Paul Merson has suggested that West Ham star Marko Arnautovic could look to join Chelsea at the end of the season. The Austrian is expected to move on during the summer. He left a bitter taste in the mouths of many Hammers fans after he pushed for a move to the Chinese Super League in January.
“He probably looks at Chelsea and thinks ‘this is a club I might be playing at next season and I better turn it on tonight’,” the ex-Arsenal star said on Sky Sports News.
The move fell through and Arnautovic has yet to find the back of the net since. He did however give a decent performance during his sides 2-0 defeat against Chelsea recently. Arnautovic has made 26 appearances in all competitions for the Hammers this season and scored just eight goals. It will be surprising if Chelsea were to make a move for him. Many West Ham fans will be happy to see Arnautovic leave this summer. The club must aim to secure a good replacement who is not injury prone.
