The Pennsylvania Lottery has launched a new virtual race product, Derby Cash Horse Racing. This is a very interesting development for the Pennsylvania Lottery because the original virtual sports game of it yet to make a mark on the local players.
The Pennsylvania Lottery launched the Derby Cash Horse Racing on Tuesday. It has been developed by the Inspired Entertainment. The virtual races would be determined by a random computerized draw, informed the Pennsylvania Lottery. The draw would run every five minutes and is capable of being observed by around 2000 lottery retailers. These lottery retailers include bars and restaurants as well. The total prize money at stake is around $800k to $1k for this draw.
Drew Svitko said that the derby Cash would give players the front row experience of the horse racing action. He insisted that the horse racing themed games are very popular in the different other states and Derby Cash would be able to make a mark. However, statistics say that racing is now nowhere near the draw at present. Well, only time can tell whether the customers are happy with it or not.
This is the second virtual gaming product for the Pennsylvania Lottery after Xpress Sports. Xpress Sports was launched last year that provided the content for virtual football and car racing. Well, it fell flat for the lottery company. So far, it has generated revenue of around $1m whereas the expectation was $13m. This is really an underwhelmed performance and the stakes have now increased because of the new launch.
The State’s Casino Operators protested about the slot like games of Pennsylvania Online Lottery. The games were launched last year and have been successful so far. These games generated revenue of $381m and the profits of $31.3m in one year of operation.
The iLottery got some momentum as well for the lottery company. Recently, a customer won the highest prize till the date of $300k from Cash Buster Extreme Game. However, if it can be compared it is still far away from others. For example, the Michigan Online Lottery pays out the highest prize of $1m.
The Pennsylvania lottery needs to upgrade and improve the offerings now. The future of iLottery does not look bright thanks to the gaining popularity of the Online Casino Games. There are only a few local licensed online games in Pennsylvania now. However, the revenue generated is getting higher with every passing month. October registered one fifth higher revenue than September. As the revenue increases, more and more products come online and that could become bad news for the iLottery.
