The June report is good this year for the Mississippi sports betting industry according to the Mississippi Gaming Commission with combined revenues.
The figures tell the tale: revenue of $1.6m for the month of June. Of this amount, the coastal casinos generated $709,901 from $9.0m in wagers. Those in the north brought in $549,847 (with $4.3m from customers).
The profits are higher than those in May despite lower bets. The central casinos played their part with $113,920 in profits from $823,939 in wagers; yet the figure is down from May at $305,494 from $2.5m total bets.
The report revealed that the most popular sport on the coast is baseball, with basketball a distant second. Players spent $5.8m on the former and $1.5m for the latter. In the north, wagers of $2.2m were posted for baseball, considerably greater than the $696,070 for basketball.
Let’s not forget the central region. Baseball remained the most popular sport to bet on. In June, wagers totaled, ahead of basketball at $852,527.
