In order to locate the first CEO of the TAB NZ, the Racing Industry Transition Agency (RITA) has recently concluded its Race Reformation Process. The recruitment process is now underway.
The role of Caldwell Partners was to detect potential applicants and help to narrow the list to a number of selected choices. At least one candidate, who they believe has “proven expertise in Australasia in wagering, gaming and similar sectors,” is identified by the executive recruiting specialist.
In a statement which was supplied by RITA, it was claimed:
“Recruitment is underway for a CEO to lead TAB NZ into a new era, utilizing the strong existing platform to move the business to a truly commercial operation, redefining the TAB NZ brand for a highly successful and sustainable future, working alongside the TAB NZ Board, executive leadership team, racing Industry codes and governing bodies to achieve this.”
John Allen held this position initially, but at the end of 2019 he announced his planned resignation in September. Allen has been with RITA for five years and he has greatly enhanced the technology used to bet and broadcast. He introduced new race field charges and a consumer tax point as well.
Allen said when he announced that he had resigned,
“The major investment programs have been largely completed, providing a solid basis for producing Kiwi punters and benefit for the racing industry. This was a difficult decision, but with the ongoing reforms, it is time for another person to lead the TAB and provide revenue growth in support of a sustainable competition industry.”
The position has temporarily been filled by RITA President Dean McKenzie since the resignation of Allen came into effect. Until a suitable replacement is selected, he will remain in this position.
In June of this year, RITA will make major changes. It will then become the TAB NZ, which formed part of a December bill. TAB is thus the only company able to offer legally betting on races and sports events in New Zealand. They are also the only agency authorized to launch new products and services. They form the Racing Integrity Board as a part of their tasks which will act as the Country’s watchdog against corruption.
