How often do we see that a casino becomes the talk of the Presidential candidate? Well, the Fertitta brothers, Frank and Lorenz, owner of Station Casinos have managed to do that twice now. Senator Bernie Sanders, who has started his campaign for the Presidential election, pointed out the standoff between the owner of Palms Casino Resort employees and owner. The employees of the Palms Casino Resorts have decided to unionize and voted for the same. However, the owners have refused to accept the union and termed it inaccurate. The Union has been termed legitimate and Senator Bernie has termed it as a violation of the law. He also urged and asked the Fertitta brothers to open the dialogue with the employees to resolve the situation. The comments from Senator Bernie, a Democrat, came after another Democrat President aspirant mentioned about the issue in July. Julian Castro, argued the owners of Station Casinos to reconsider the tough stance against the employees and union back in July.
Station Casinos is no small casino chain; in fact, it is the third-largest employer of Nevada. However, the company has often been accused of treating the employees unfairly. Various casinos of Station Unions have also formed unions and they have reiterated the ill-treatment on many forums and many accounts. Palm Casinos Resort also followed the same suit and carried out the voting to unionize. The overwhelming response for the move, however, could not convince the owners as they refused to accept the results. The National Labor Relations Board asserted that this is a violation of the law.
In their argument, Fertitta brothers have maintained the claim that they can reject the inaccurate process. The brothers have many closed friends sitting in Washington; President of the United States, Donald Trump is also reportedly much closed to them. It is being reported that President Trump has received $2m from the pro-Trump Political Action Committee, of which Fertitta brothers are part of.
The owners of Station Casinos, Fertitta brothers, have however not responded to any of the arguments made by the Presidential candidates. The status between the Union of Palms Casinos Resort and Owner remains hung and standstill.
