Sky Sports Pundit Keith Downie has seemingly slammed reports that Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez could be headed to Celtic this summer by suggesting that talk of that happening is a “non-starter” due to the Spaniard’s wage demands.
Benitez’s future at Newcastle is currently the subject of speculation. The Spaniard’s current contract with the Magpies is due to end this summer and he has yet to agree to a new deal. This has led to speculation linking him with the Hoops hot-seat.
Celtic have been without a permanent manager since February after Brendan Rodgers controversially left them in order to take charge of Premier League side Leicester City.
Since then Neil Lennon has been in charge of the club on an interim basis. From the Hoops point of view, it would make complete sense for them to appoint Lennon on an permanent basis.
