Casino sports better in New York are rejoicing. The state gaming commission has just approved in-person sports wagering in four upstate casinos (Resorts World, Rivers Casino, Tioga Downs and Del Lago) by a unanimous decision. Now the Empire State is the fourteen to legalize such betting.
Sports leagues are continuing to lobby for bills to include an “integrity fee,” but no such luck has happened in New York. However, the current version has clear stipulations. Operators don’t need to use official data, which closes the league out of another revenue stream. This is in line with most states, although Illinois does require the use official data or in-play wagering operations.
