Tennessee Releases Draft Sports Wagering Rules

Home » Tennessee Releases Draft Sports Wagering Rules

Legalizing Sports Wagering is one aspect but the states in the US know the importance of the regulation. Hence, there is hardly any state in the US that takes this lightly. Tennessee has recently released the draft sports wagering rules in the public domain. The rules also include stringent advertising policy. The state expects public comment on the draft policy before it cements it.

As per the rules, the wagers will be allowed only by online or by the designated remote kiosks. This was done as per the SB0016 bill which was passed by the legislators in the 2019 session.

The regulation lays the path for the stringent advertisement policy as well. It says that the operators have to present all the documents to the Tennessee Lottery at least 30 days before the advertisement is released. The authorities also told that the advertisement should not appear in a medium for too long. It said that the intensity and the frequency of the advertisement should not be such that it reaches saturation in one medium. The authorities are basically trying to diversify the advertisement medium for the operators.

The public comments on the draft policy would help the authorities in Tennessee to further strengthen the sports wagering policy. The attempt would be to allow the sports wagering without harming the public interest.
