Tottenham to Appeal Son’s Red Card against Bournemouth

Tottenham Hotspur have challenged wrongful dismissal against Son Heung-min’s red card at Bournemouth on Saturday.

Tottenham had until 1pm on Tuesday to submit an appeal in the hope of getting Son available for the last game of the campaign at home against Everton.

The South Korea international saw a straight card for pushing over Jefferson Lerma in Spurs 1-0 defeat to the Cherries and as things stand, he is banned for the first two matches of next season.

After a close look at the incident in which Son pushed Lerma in the chest, the club believes a red card and three game suspension is too much, arguing Son’s push should not have been seen as violent conduct.

The referee also did not see Lerma appearing to strike the Spurs forward in the back and then stepping on his foot.

Tottenham were further reduced to nine men when Son’s substitute Juan Foyth was also given a straight red card.

Notwithstanding the defeat, Spurs are still expected to finish fourth in the Premier League ahead of Arsenal.
