The Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine’s Parliament, has prepared six new bills that will be proposed soon. The parliament will consider six bills that are related to gambling regulation. Two of these will change the current tax and budget laws while one bill will be related to illegal gambling prevention.
For now, five bills (of nine) are known to the public. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who is a strong proponent of gambling legalization, has approved these bills.
He has been known for his efforts to legalize gambling in Ukraine. Taras Tarasenko was the one who submitted the bills. He even authored one. He proposed that any group applying for casinos in Kiev should pay $3.2 million as part of the application process.
Also, one bill states that online casinos will be required to pay $2.1 million in licensing fees. Another bill states that only 10 sportsbooks will be able to operate in the country (owning 10 establishments in total).
