Ukraine Releases Full Information On Its New Bill

The time has come for Ukraine to decide if gambling is going to be legalized in the country. The country’s authorities released the full text of the bill to legalize gambling in the country, gaming and ibetting included. Some time ago the Ukrainian government announced that gambling will be restricted to certain areas only and now this decision will change everything.

This draft bill doesn’t include land-based gambling only, it includes igaming, online poker, online betting, and retail bookmaking too. For now, it has been decided that 20 casino licenses will be available to five-star hotels only. These hotels should be located in Kiev and have at least 200 rooms. If by any chance, a hotel outside of Kiev gets a permit, it is required that it has at least 150 rooms.

To apply for a license, operators must possess at least UAH30m ($1.20m).

The bill also includes the creation of a gambling regulator that will oversee the Ukrainian market. The new Commission for the Development and Regulation of Gambling will consist of seven members and it will be accountable to the Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers. The main task for this commission will be to develop licensing conditions for the operators and to regulate the gambling activities in the country.
