Last night UFC staged its Pay-Per-View as UFC 237 went down inside Jenese Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Jessica won the Women’s Strawweight title as she knocked out Rose Namajuna via slam during the main event in the evening. Jared Cannonier finished Anderson Silva in the very first round with a vicious kick to the knee.
Winner: Irene Aldana
Who she should fight next: Yana Kunitskaya
Irene got her third straight win by dismantling Bethe Correira, and she can expect to break in the top ten. Yana, on the other hand, has been on a good run after winning two straight after getting rag-dolled by Cris Cyborg in her debut. She has taken out Marion Reneau and Lina Lansberg since she returned to Bantamweight. The showdown between the two can be a tough one.
Winner: Jessica Andrade
Who she should fight next: Tatiana Suarez vs. Nina Ansaroff
Suarez and Ansaroff are set out to throw down in a few weeks at UFC 238; Joanna Jedrzejczyk has high hopes of winning the Strawweight title now that Rose is no longer at the top of the mountain, but that might not happen as she will either go to Suarez or Ansaroff. Nina has won four in a row while Suarez is still undefeated at 7-0, 4-0 UFC.
Winner: Alexander Volkanovski
Who he should fight next: Max Holloway
After defeating Jose Aldo in Rio, Alex won his seventieth overall and seventh in a row inside the octagon. Frankie Edgar is trying his hardest to get, but it only shouldn’t happen until a title fight between Max and Alex plays out and get the winner.
Winner: Jared Cannonier
Who he should fight next: Chris Weidman
Chris Weidman is returning back sometime this summer, and Jared Cannonier seems to be a perfect match for him. After scoring the biggest win of his career, Cannonier can now look forward to top challenges.
He has won two in a row. There might be questions though why Cannonier would consider the fight as he was last seen getting waxed by Ronald Souza and is 1-4 in his last five outings, but Chris still carries weight with his name and a win over him will look good to anyone’s resume.
