World Cricket Championship sequel 2 (WCC2), was favored by popular vote in the games category in the AatmaNirbhar Bharat India Digital Applications Innovation Challenge, which is promoted by the Government of India.

The leading mobile game of cricket, it gained a huge advantage by accumulating 74% of the votes and the next with 13%.

Likewise, the game won the 2nd position corresponding to the general category of applications of 6,940 entries. It also took third place in the jury verdict round.

The incredible popularity of the cricket simulation game developed by Nextwave Multimedia is proven by the 130 million downloads it currently has and the immense support provided by the fans.

The game of Hindu origin is played in more than 150 countries, among which the United Kingdom, the United States, Australia, Sri Lanka, the United Arab Emirates, Bangladesh and Pakistan stand out.

WCC 2 garnered the most votes out of 326 entries in the games category, making it the preferred choice for the people.

Since march this year when the mobile game recorded 110 million installs, it has added another 20 million players so far.

Additionally, the game has seen a 25% increase in daily active users. Revenue growth has been 20% while growth in in-app purchases reached 100%. On the other hand, the ‘Local Rivals’ subset of the game that is dedicated to the family, grew by 250% after the game was offered free during the ‘Janata curfew’ weekend.

The AatmaNirbhar challenge together with the ‘Vocal for Local’ campaign led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, revealed that the WCC 2 game by reaching 110 million installs had already surpassed Clash of Kings, the popular chinese game that was banned in India , which by then had 100 million installations. The result was that the WCC 2 game ended up nullifying the chinese game worldwide.

The WCC franchise is not only the most awarded but the largest and most complex game ever built in India. These sports simulation games are among the most complicated and difficult to build and maintain. The process includes math, physics, animation, art, data science, game economics, coding, and game design to ensure the game’s strength and competitiveness.

Recently the company released the beta version of WCC 3 which brings multi-language commentary from some famous cricketers like Matthew Hayden and Aakash Chopra. It’s a game built with a competitive multiplayer approach, plus the added authenticity of real cricket simulation.

It brings updated gameplay features including exciting animations and new controls. It also comes with real-time movements of professional cricketers, advanced artificial and more than 400 tournaments in a full career mode.

“We thank the Government of India for creating the platform to show and promote digital India. Hoping this becomes an annual event. We thank our fans for voting for us in the AatmaNirbharApp People’s Choice Award,” said Nextwave Multimedia Co-Founder and CEO PR Rajendran.

He added that this will give the company greater “visibility and will inspire us to continue building on what we have achieved so far.”

Since its inception, Nextwave Multimedia, the subsidiary of Nazara Technologies Ltd., has focused on delivering quality and innovative content to gamers. After the success of the beta version of WCC 3 reaching 4 million downloads, which was released a little over two months ago, the company is ready to present the final version of the game.
