Tiger Woods is not only preparing for his first stint as captain of Team USA for the 2019 Presidents Cup at Royal Melbourne in
Australia, but also on his quest to tie Sam Snead’s all-time PGA Tour wins record. He is yearning for 82nd win that is in his sight this week at The Northern Trust at Liberty National in Jersey City, N.J., the first of three FedEx Cup Playoff events.
Before Thursday’s opening round, Tiger sat down with caddie Joe LaCava to answer some fans’ questions for GOLFTV. They discussed on who’s the funniest player on Tour, how LaCava celebrated the Masters’ win earlier this year and the strangest thing Woods has in his bag: a crunchy peanut butter and banana sandwich and a very specific sharpie.
However, the most surprising answer came to the following question: What’s one course Woods hasn’t played that’s on his bucket list?
“People are probably going to say this is a little bit surprising, but I’ve never played Pine Valley,” said Woods. “I know it’s always rated every year as the No. 1 course in the world but I’ve never been there.”
On the other side, LaCava responded to the questions and his best answer came to the question of whether or not he could remember anything he said to Woods on the back nine at Augusta on Sunday. When LaCava was responding to that query, Woods somehow asked him for help to read a putt. “On Thursday I would’ve come over and read it as left-center because it does break a little bit,” said LaCava, “but on Sunday my thought was ‘Don’t even put any break in it, just hammer it and knock it right in the back.'” LaCava has played Pine Valley.
This week on Thursday morning at 7.45a.m ET, Tiger Woods will start play off the 10th tee Scott Piercy and Wyndham Championship winner J.T. Poston.
