Fans wonder why English seam bowler from the Yorkshire county lotto club, David Willey, has withdrawn from the Indian Premier League’s Chennai Super Kings. It was to be a short stint in any case. The Kings made do and have garnered successive wins in the 2019 season.
Family reasons are cited, not surprising given the late birth of his second child. It is time to stay home and mind the store. In his words,
“We are due our second baby and my wife’s had a bit of a tough time, so I’m having to make sure she’s alright.”
Willey affirms that his team is supportive and defends what is not an easy decision.
“I need to put my family first at the minute, and cricket’s secondary to that. We’ll get that sorted and then I can concentrate on cricket.”
