Nazem Kadri a Toronto Maple Leafs forward has been suspended for cross-checking Boston Bruins winger Jake DeBrusk. This means that he will not participate in the playoffs. The news was announced on Monday before the game.
The crash happened on Saturday when Kadri hit DeBrusk in the 3rd period of the game in which Boston won 4-1. The NHL gave him an in-person hearing. This means that they had the option of suspending him for five games or more.
Kadri has been suspended several times in his career. Last year he was banned three times for boarding and before, he had seven hearing with the NHL. Most of his suspension was as a result of crash with opponents head.
William Nylander, a winger, took Kadri’s place at the center, between Patrick Marleau and Connor Brown. Coach Mike Babcock said that he had to play hard. He said they did so and they won the first and the second game.
Nylander performance was excellent in 54 games in which he scored seven goals. He also scored in the 4-1 victory against the Bruins in the first game.
