Lithuanian authorities have approved the introduction of new rules in the online gambling space. The local government has authorized legislation that will require gambling adverts to include all problems that gamblers might develop as a result of gambling. This law will begin operation on the 1st of July.

Once the deliberation went past the first hearing, parliament adopted the law on gambling advertising unanimously. The new law crafts a duty for Gaming Control Authority in Lithuania to come up with content that the adverts will consists of and to determine the applicable standards.

Reacting to the latest addition to the bill, the sponsor, Mykolas Majauskas stated that gambling should not be considered an evil, however, as the betting space continues to expand, it would be important to be able to excise control over the likely risks and to minimize the consequences.

Considering that the law has been passed, the local government needs to compile rules that would further explain the improvements that are needed. Majauskas also noted that they expect a sensible and responsible approach to the way the rules will be effected.

This new legislation will support the country and help it meet European Union standards. Many country amass lots of profit from the gambling space at the expense of gamblers who are left dealing with serious problems. For that reason, many countries face an increase population of addicts in financial trouble.
