Ten times All-Star forward Carmelo Anthony is without a place to go after failing to secure a contract during the free agency. The 35 years old veteran played for Houston Rockets last season, he has however been linked to several teams, but none has offered him a contract.
For now, Carmelo only hope lies in New York Knicks. In the free agency, Knicks signed Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. League source informed Athletics’ Shams Charania that Knicks are considering bringing in Anthony.
The Knicks believe that they can become better contenders if they sign the veteran rather than adding him to the youthful roster, said Charania.
Last season, Anthony appeared in 10 games, he averaged 13.4 points and 40.5 percent shooting. He has been out of NBA games from November last year.
Houston traded Anthony to Chicago Bulls in January, but he was waived a week later. He has also been linked to Los Angeles Lakers, although no deal has come to fruition.
NBA executive believes that if the veteran remains unsigned, he will likely ink retirement contract with the Knicks.
