Premier League powerhouse, Tottenham Hotspur, has decided to end its partnership with 1xBet. The main reason for this action is 1xBet’s termination of the license to operate in the UK.

The company was forced to leave this market after it was accused of massive regulation breaches, some of these including betting on children’s sports and advertising illegal websites.

The Gambling Commission contacted Liverpool and Chelsea, also big names of English Football and 1xBet’s partners, to warn them about promoting an illegal company in the UK.

The Gambling Commission commented on that:

“We recently wrote to Liverpool FC, Chelsea FC and Tottenham Hotspur FC to remind them that organizations engaging in sponsorship, and associated advertising arrangements, with an unlicensed operator, may be liable to prosecution for the offense of advertising unlawful gambling.”

1xBet spokesman stated:

“We take very seriously the allegation that 1xBet’s brand has been promoted on prohibited sites, which is strictly against our policies, and we have launched an investigation. Pending the outcome … we believe it is responsible to temporarily suspend our advertising activity in the UK.”

A London monitoring firm, White Bullet Solutions, was the one who noted irregularities related to 1xBet and contacted the regulators.

“It is shocking that these football clubs failed to do the most basic due diligence checks on 1xBet before signing up for these multimillion-pound deals. It’s an absolute debacle,” Matt Zarb-Cousin of the Campaign for Fairer Gambling, said.
