You can’t avoid some complaints, but a 5000% increase! Wow! This is what happened to UK Gambling Operators over five years.
Sources reveal that over eight thousand complaints were registered in 2018, rising from the 169 lodged in 2013. They focused on the failure of operators to pay out winning bets and the lack of social responsibility.
According to Neil McArthur, Executive Director of the UK Gambling Commission, the regulatory body is pushing the industry to know its customers, and this is a good sign suggesting that consumers are demanding more of the gambling operators.
An enormous increase in complaints indicates how far betting activity has come in the UK. In point of fact, gambling wagers total £14.5bn (€15.7bn/$17.5bn) the 12 months leading up to September of 2018.
Dealing with the problem is not part of the commission’s upcoming plans. Watchers expected a maximum stake for online gaming, but it has not been implement as yet. Lobbying the government on fixed-odds betting terminals may lead to some action in the near future.
